Increase in Student Visa Maintenance Requirements – From 11 November 2025
From 11 November 2025, students applying under the UK Student visa route will need to show higher financial evidence to meet maintenance requirements:
New Monthly Maintenance Amounts:
- If studying in London: £1,529 per month
- If studying outside London: £1,171 per month (Both calculated for a maximum of 9 months)
💡 Total Required Funds:
- London: £13,761 (9 months x £1,529)
- Outside London: £10,539 (9 months x £1,171)
Accommodation Adjustment
Students can deduct up to £1,529 from their required financial evidence if they have paid for accommodation in advance. This is an increase from the previous £1,334 offset amount.
These changes apply to applications submitted on or after 11 November 2025.

Graduate Route Duration Cut – From 1 January 2027
From 1 January 2027, the Graduate Route will offer 18 months (instead of 24 months) of post-study work rights for students graduating with:
- A UK Bachelor’s degree
- A UK Master’s degree
No Change for PhD Students:
Students completing a PhD or Doctorate will still receive 3 years of post-study work rights.
