🧭 What Is the Skilled Occupation List?
The Skilled Occupation List includes jobs that are in demand in Australia. These are occupations eligible for various skilled visas. If your job is listed and you meet other criteria, you may qualify to apply for one of Australia’s skilled migration pathways.
📋 Eligible Visas Linked to the Skilled Occupation List
The occupation list applies to multiple visa categories, including:
- Skilled Independent Visa (subclass 189)
- Skilled Nominated Visa (subclass 190)
- Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa (subclass 491)
- Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186)
- Skills in Demand Visa (subclass 482)
- Training Visa (subclass 407)
- Temporary Graduate Visa (subclass 485)
And several others depending on the occupation and stream.
🔍 How Does It Work?
Each occupation on the list is classified using an ANZSCO code. This code shows:
- Skill level of the job
- Required qualifications or experience
- Assessment authority for that occupation
- If the job is eligible under different regional or national visa streams
Australia uses two versions of the ANZSCO classification depending on the visa type:
- ANZSCO 2022 – for visas like 186 and 482
- ANZSCO 2013 – for other skilled visa programs
Even if your occupation changes in future updates, current visa holders are not affected unless you change your job or sponsor.
